About the Museum
Hunter's Bar Junior School's Year 5 students have been studying the Atlantic Slave Trade. As part of this we have been exploring the key concept 'Everyone is equal on Earth'. Prior to this, we looked at ideas relating to equality, justice and fairness including discussing the Black Lives Matter movement. We have been combining all our learning to investigate two lines of inquiry namely, 'What causes people to leave their homes?' and 'What will our impact on future Britain be?' In our work on the Atlantic Slave Trade, which is the focus of our online Slavery Museum, we have studied the British Empire, the slave trade triangle, a slave's journey on the middle passage, the justifications for slavery and the lasting impacts of slavery which can still be felt today.
