Eventually, they forced us to march onto the massive wooden vessel. As I marched on my heart filed with fear as sweat trickled down my neck and tears rolled down my cheek. Thick, steel chains rubbed against my skin causing me pain I had never experienced before. The selfish crew eyed us menacingly as they laughed at us because we were stumbling. Slaves around me were crying because they had left their home and family behind. The blazing sun beat down on us as we stood in line for what seemed like h0ures. Finally, they barked at us to go below deck my heart pounded this was it... The change from the boiling, hot heat of the sun to a dark, freezing hold came as a sudden surprise to me. Suddenly, I was caught by a wave of smell, a mixture I could not describe. I looked around and could see vomit and human waste which must have contributed to this smell which took over my scenes.
