A Slave's Journey by Molly
Suddenly, I heard a crack of a whip and we set off. Slaves staggered on to the towering ship one by one. I knew what was waiting for me. I felt fear spread throughout my body until it hit my heart my heart then started to speed up as I felt someone behind me. It felt like a dream as the chains tightened as I swallowed the pain. I closed my eyes as I opened them I smelt the pungent smell off misery and rot. The rotten crew chuckled to them self-whilst watching us suffer. Behind me I saw slave sobbing on their knees with tears rolling down there cheeks I felt sorry for them because they were so young. Now it was getting to hot as I felt a burn down my back as we needed some water. Then an order came we were pushed down below deck by the crew.
The burn of the African sun to a cold silence wasn’t what
we were expecting as we walked down the steps but we knew what was waiting for
us. Forcefully, a smell attacked my nostrils it made me want to vomit but I
knew the consequence for that. As my eyes adjusted to the light I saw the
stinking state I was going to stay in for a while. I wanted to sprint out of
there but I didn’t have that much power with my week body. As we staggered down
he pushed each and every one of us to a post as he attached us in I heard a
quiet moan it then suddenly died down the wooden post rubbed my skin roar as I
felt splinters sink into my skin the sun started to set as the sun became moon
and the light became dark the cramped spot became pitch black.
I tried and tried to even attempt to close my eyes but
they wouldn’t give in. The state I was sleeping in was unboreable for me to
cope with. I smelt rotten sweat bobbing through the air. I rubbed my eyes as I
looked across the cramped area I wasn’t the only one. I stretched my arms out
then I felt the pain as I tasted misery in the air I heard stomps on deck felt
like the floor boards were going to break. I felt like the world was going to
end but it actually was well for us. Suddenly, the boat de-tached and set off I
could barely see my future.
