A Slave's Journey by Leo

Eventually, they forced us to march onto the massive wooden vessel. As I marched on my heart filed with fear as sweat trickled down my neck and tears rolled down my cheek. Thick, steel chains rubbed against my skin causing me pain I had never experienced before. The selfish crew eyed us menacingly as they laughed at us because we were stumbling. Slaves around me were crying because they had left their home and family behind. The blazing sun beat down on us as we stood in line for what seemed like h0ures. Finally, they barked at us to go below deck my heart pounded this was it...

The change from the boiling, hot heat of the sun to a dark, freezing hold came as a sudden surprise to me. Suddenly, I was caught by a wave of smell, a mixture I could not describe. I looked around and could see vomit and human waste which must have contributed to this smell which took over my scenes. Rough, iron chains rubbed my bare skin, unbearably. Which forced me in place. Sleepily, I cl0sed my tired eyes to try and get some sleep as the mean master turned out the old gas lamps for night time.

However hard I tried I could not sleep. Cries of sorrow rung around the hold. The loud noise of crew also drifted down. My body ached and I felt pain rush through my body. The awful smell was still in the air making me feel sick. After a while, my eyes became accustomed to the dark. All I could see was suffering all around me.  I wept uncontrollably that night after what I had seen and experienced. Slowly, the massive, grand slave ship set sail heading further and further away from my home. Suddenly, I realised I could not turn back.
